46 Very Best Up (Movie) Quotes

In 2009, Disney brought us the movie Up that captured our hearts. Up is a heart-touching story about an elderly grumpy man who will do anything to fulfill his late wife’s dream. Along the way, he meets a wilderness explorer boy who annoys him at first but over time they become a duo that always look out for each other.

Most cartoon movies are happy fairytales. We don’t often see cartoons that deal with real-life problems. However, Up is by far one of the most realistic stories and it sends beautiful messages throughout the film. Up is a perfect movie to show children that even though bad things happen in life, there will always be good to balance it out.

We see Carl experiencing true love. After losing Ellie, he experiences grief. He becomes obsessed to fulfil his wife’s dream of living on Paradise Falls. He had made that promise to her when they were kids and he always kept that promise. Carl then meets Russell who we learn has any absentee dad and needs a role model. Despite Carl’s need to get to Paradise Falls, he can’t help but give in to the stubborn boy’s need for adventure.

The movie shows the messages of true love lasting forever. It shows that even when bad things happen, there is good to come. Carl was so stuck in his grief; he didn’t realise life was passing him by. Russell pulled Carl into the light and showed him adventure and how to smile again.

Here are 46 Up Quotes that show Carl’s journey throughout the disney movie:
