Alfred Molina brings warmth and tragedy to Doctor Octopus, making him much more than a standard comic-book villain. The movie understands that Peter’s greatest battle is not against Doc Ock. It is deciding what he is willing to sacrifice to remain Spider-Man.

There is a lot happening, and the movie is undeniably messier than its predecessors. Still, its ideas about revenge, pride, and forgiveness give the trilogy a fitting emotional conclusion.

Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man Movies

4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Andrew Garfield gives Peter a nervous energy that feels different from Tobey Maguire’s quieter performance. His natural chemistry with Emma Stone also makes Peter and Gwen’s relationship one of the movie’s strongest elements.

5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Homecoming wisely skips another origin story. It gives viewers a younger, funnier Peter while proving that he can be heroic without an Avengers membership or an advanced suit.

The lighter school-trip comedy gradually becomes a story about misinformation, manipulation, and trusting what appears on a screen. Its final revelation also changes Peter’s life before the credits have finished rolling.

The returning characters provide plenty of nostalgia, but the movie does more than replay famous moments. It brings three generations of Spider-Man storytelling together while giving Holland’s Peter the most difficult choices of his life.

The Animated Spider-Verse Movies
The Spider-Verse films move away from Peter Parker as the sole hero and place Miles Morales at the center.

9. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Miles meets an older, exhausted Peter B. Parker, the confident Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham. Each has experience that Miles lacks, but none of them can decide what kind of hero he should become.
The film is funny, visually inventive, and deeply personal. At its heart, it is about a frightened teenager realizing that nobody feels completely ready before taking a leap.

10. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

The Society is led by Miguel O’Hara, a severe and highly capable Spider-Man who believes every universe must follow certain fixed events. Miles refuses to accept that saving the multiverse requires him to surrender the people he loves.
The story is bigger, stranger, and visually more ambitious than its predecessor. It also ends before the conflict is resolved, leaving Miles in one of the most dangerous situations the franchise has created.

When Is the New Spider-Man Movie Coming Out?
The wait for Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man adventure is almost over. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to swing exclusively into theaters on July 31, 2026.
Because the movie has not been released yet, it is not included in the completed Spider-Man movie list above. However, it will become the next live-action chapter in Peter Parker’s story and Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-slinging hero.
Fans will need to catch it on the big screen first, as no official streaming release date has been announced yet.
What Is the Best Order to Watch the Spider-Man Movies?
For a first viewing, release order is the best choice:
- Watch the Tobey Maguire trilogy.
- Continue with Andrew Garfield’s two movies.
- Move into Tom Holland’s MCU trilogy.
- Finish with the two animated Spider-Verse movies.
This order lets the different versions develop naturally. It also makes the returning characters and references in No Way Home much more meaningful.
The Spider-Verse films tell a separate story, so they can technically be watched at any point. Saving them for the end works well because they expand the same multiverse idea in a completely different style.
