Released as an eight-episode limited series, I Will Find You follows David Burroughs, played by Sam Worthington, a former law professor serving a life sentence for the murder of his three-year-old son, Matthew. The case has long been considered closed, and David has spent years insisting he was wrongly convicted.
Everything changes when his former sister-in-law, Rachel Mills, visits him in prison with a photograph she recently found. Hidden among pictures from a theme park is what appears to be Matthew, alive years after the child’s supposed death.
Convinced the photo could prove his innocence and reveal what really happened to his son, David escapes prison and begins searching for answers. His investigation uncovers long-buried family secrets and forces him to question people he once trusted.

Reception has been a mix, but it’s leaning positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series is sitting at a 60% audience score and 62% from critics, while IMDb has it at a solid 7.1 out of 10. Most of the disagreement comes down to the twists in the back half. Some viewers loved how the show kept reshuffling who they suspected, while others felt it leaned a little too hard on tricks Coben has used before.
Is there a Season 2?
I Will Find You was developed as a limited series, and Netflix has not announced plans for a second season.
The series continues to be billed as a limited series. In a June 18, 2026 interview with TV Insider, Harlan Coben told TV Insider flat out that I Will Find You is staying a limited series, “much like the other Harlan Coben adaptations on the platform.” He wasn’t much more optimistic about revisiting these characters in book form either, saying it’s “probably not” happening. “Whenever I do a show, it’s always with the intention of never writing these characters again,” he explained. “It’s not fair to ask people to watch eight episodes and wait two years for Season 2, so everything is kind of answered.”
That said, he left himself a little wiggle room. “I never say never,” he added, “if we somehow came up with a storyline that would be as good as this one.” For now though, don’t hold your breath. His partnership with Netflix isn’t going anywhere, and an adaptation centered on his fan-favorite character Myron Bolitar is already in the works.
